Are YOU Allergic?

Last week on the way to church we were discussing how spring allergies would soon begin with the trees budding. Out of the blue Audrey said:

"Mom, do you know what I'm allergic to?.......snakes."

We all laughed, and I said, "me too babe."

Abbey is now thirteen

Woohoo! Abbey is now thirteen. Here's the crew that was here for her "Narnia" party. We're all up to date to go see "Prince Caspian" now. Happy Birthday Abbey!

Mother Hen?

Ok, now does he really look like a "mother hen"? Since the boys in Sunday Obsession asked Carey to co- manage their Christian rock band last summer, he's been dedicated. He has scheduled many gigs, attends as many as possible, and nearly every recording moment with "Huffy", which began last October. It was there at Huffy's church where the name "mother hen" originated. Carey so believes in these guys and is determined to do all he can do to help them get their big break.

Yesterday was Easter Sunday. Porky was talking about how Simeon and Anna had been promised to see their savior during their lifetime. When Simeon finally met Jesus as an infant it wasn't as he had expected. On the way home I paralleled this to "the boys" (as they are commonly known in our house). We don't know how, where, when or through whom they could get their big break. All this time, we as a couple, and as a family, are committed to this journey with the boys. Our boys, (smile) and our girls "big brothers".

Carey cracks me up two times a week, with printing out his list of dates of gigs even the potential dates. He has many to clear these dates with. Our family calendar and each of the boys and their parents. As we all dedicate ourselves to this ministry, we are honored to be along for the journey. Thank you Jesus, and thank you boys.

Now "mother hen" seems to be sticking. Here is a list of the gigs so far on the calendar:

You can also view them on Sunday Obsession's myspace, web address on the side of my blog. Oh, and you can hear some of their original music there too. As Carey does go often to the gigs, we his family stay home. But, on the rare occasion we get to go, we have a blast and are also so proud of our boys and their accomplishments. We'll embrace the "mother hen" title as it is all for their benefit, and God's glory.

Carey you're awesome and you are amazing in your enduring faithfulness to me, your girls and in working for the boys in Sunday Obsession. Thank you and I love you.

PS: One day soon, I'll begin posting pictures of different venues where the boys play.

Any ideas?

I finally realized I want outta here..... When my brain just can't take another thing it's being asked to: comprehend, give permission for, request juice service (or any other motherly service), figure out where we were in the the daily lesson plans when we were so rudely interrupted???, I have realized I need a break. Not just a night off, an afternoon to household shop in my own, where I stress about not spending too much. A real break. There's no vacation this year, so? I told Carey he has to take me away for our anniversary. Abbey will be 13 (yes a teenager) this Saturday, so our 14 year anniversary is in April. Believe it or not, we have never gone away alone together since our honeymoon. So my question is, where should we go? I'm thinking Lancaster, PA. But know nothing about where to stay or what we'd be doing. I'd love somewhere along the Chesapeak, MD (spell much?) , you know something nautical. Maybe Norfolk, VA? We'd like to brouse nautical antiques, but? Any ideas or recommendations would be great.

Oh, and we'll have great childcare. I'll even be able to relax. All the girls will stay together with our dear friends Debbie, Nils, Kirsten & Laura. They stayed there one night last year when we went on a youth leader training conference. They all did great there, and have been asking to go back. Nothing like being loved and spoiled by them. Thanks guys we love you so, and you are an incredible blessing to our life. I know I couldn't cope without you.

Reprimanded

I didn't really think people read what I'd have to say. Last night I was reprimanded for not posting in a while. Truth be told, I'm having trouble seeing color lately like Jblieu. I sleep good at night now, but still have severe drowsy time during the day. I'm now physically challenged to be able to complete the things I believe I'm called to do: ie: school my children, manage the household, babysit, serve at chapel etc... OK, number one priority is schooling.

I don't want to sound like a winer, so I haven't written. I'm tired of being tired. It's so hard being encouraging in this ravaging world. I try so. Lena, you are a beautiful blessing in my life. All I can tell you, is press into Jesus. Like you're in a big hug in His lap, just rest there and let Him comfort you, in all you do and feel. Really, that's all I'm able to do.

Galatians 6:9 says:

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

I'm fighting being weary. I pray for endurance.
