Martins tour

I forgot our Martins field trip. I actually thought it was a fun field trip. Here we were learning about nutrition and the food groups. They had samples and everything. At the beginning they got these little caps. As we went to the different department and discussed different food groups they got a sticker to add to the cap. At the end they got a goody bag with pencil, snack and food pyramid. Alexa dreds Martins, but I actually like it. It's confusing now that they have moved stuff around, but once the construction is done, I think it will be very nice.

Practice

Alexa is busy each day practicing this monster guitar. I hope she sticks with it. She's also taking piano.

Petco

There is nothing like going to the pet store. But getting an actual tour? Well, actually I thought there would be more to it. The grooming, the stocking, discussing different departments. Nope, just pets....go figure. The kids loved it anyway.

Story Time

Here the girls take turns reading a bound story from a distant relative. Notice Audrey....heehee.

What do I call this one? Mining.....

Here, Granddad, Alley, Alexa and Audrey are on a search for rocks.

Here Granddad is chipping away at the mound of rock jetting out of the ground. (We probably had a lot of that when we had to blast a portion of the basement when building the house.)


On the search for more......

Alley is holding one of the rocks found on our property. I think it's limestone, but don't know what they determined.

On the left of the board is a bunch of rocks they found here on our property. They washed and scrubbed them so they could look at them closely. To the right are a rocks that granddad had given to us. They studied these with a guide book and had such a great time....they are still on my front porch... :)

More memories in the making

Here Grandma is helping Alley practice piano. They did lots of this, even tempo's at just at the kitchen table.They went on walks around the neighborhood.
And played many games together...something mom's not fond of. (sorry girls)
The best is still yet to come........

Drawing lesson

My parents were in town from NY from March 28-31. When they are here we are always taking the opportunity for field trips or lessons of some sort. On Friday, Granddad gave a drawing lesson. Here is the set up: a x-large bean bag for the mountain, a bunch of houses, cars and then a blue shirt for water with sail boats, oh and a lighthouse on the side of the mountain.

Ainsley and Audrey had more difficulty, so gave up on this lesson. They had other fun stuff to do though....more to come.

Memories in the making

Carey is such a good dad. For as much time as he's away from work and with other obligations (the band), he makes up for it so well. Wrestling, movies, in house football (I don't like this one, someone always gets hurt), spider and this???? Not sure what this was, but they were having fun.

The Night and "Forever"

This past Saturday was this month's "The Night". We had notice by Dwayne early that evening that his mom (AKA Ruth or Mrs. Douglas) may not make it through the night. Carey and I were particularly emotional as he has been buddies with Dwayne since high school (yes, that was a long time ago) and she was like another mom to him. For me, she's always been a great source of encouragement to me and a pillar in my Women's Sunday School class. About six years ago when I obediently began the class and started a Beth Moore study, Ruth joined. She loved Beth Moore. We went to a couple of her conferences and have done many of her studies together. Ruth is a dear heart we will truly miss.

During the evening we sang the song "Forever". While I sang, I wept and prayed if it was the Lord's will to take her and release her from her pain. Although I desperately want to hug her again as I hadn't made it in to see her. Here is the song:
